City of Langford

Langford was incorporated in 1992 and has a population of approximately 8000. The Langford area is large extending from West Saanich to View Royal, along, Metchosin, Sooke and northward including portions of the Malahat Drive.

 

The City of Langford is divided into district areas such as Glen Lake, Happy Valley, Florence Lake, Langford Proper, Thetis Heights and the Goldstream.

 

There is a business and commercial area with big box stores towards Thetis Heights and commercial areas at Goldstream/Millstream intersection that extends west to Jacklin Road. The largest lake in the area is Thetis. Langford, Glen and Florence Lakes are surrounded by waterfront homes with a few public beaches. The ever popular Goldstream Park has a provincial campground and is famous for its annual salmon run.

 

Langford’s long serving Mayor Stew Young is credited for the positive growth and development of the area.
