The District of Central Saanich

Central Saanich contains most of Greater Victoria’s farm land with pockets of housing ranging from hobby farms to town houses dispersed throughout. There are two commercial areas one in Brentwood Bay and the other in Saanichton as well as Keating X Road industrial commercial areas.

The philosophy of the community is to retain the current rural character, agricultural land base as much as possible, provide for slow, long term growth where it will have the least impact on the agricultural lands and the environment. Most of the farm land is within the Agricultural Land Reserve.

Brentwood Bay offers the Brentwood Bay Lodge. The Brentwood Bay ferry also serves as a link across the Saanich Inlet to Mill Bay.

Central Saanich offers several levels of schools that are known for their excellence.
